Air Source Heat Pump, Solar PV, Solar Thermal and Battery Storage installation
Background
Mr Broughton had recently purchased this property and was looking to make improvements throughout. The property was link detached in a suburban area and whilst the property was 50+ years old, it had been retrofit insulated to bring it close to current requirements, so the energy requirement was minimal.
Requirement
He required a low carbon solution to assist with his electrical vehicle charging needs and a new heating system to provide a more efficient way to heat his home whilst providing a higher hot water pressure to his newly installed bathroom. Future proofing his home was a necessity along with reducing his carbon emissions.
Solution
A Mitsubishi Ecodan Air Source Heat Pump provided all heating and hot water demands. A new heating system was installed which compromised of traditional convector radiators and also fan assisted radiators where space was a limitation. An evacuated tube solar thermal collector was connected to a pressurised heat pump hot water tank to provide hot water requirements using the suns free energy. Finally, a Solar PV system with battery storage allowed for a fully integrated and complimentary package of green energy solutions. All energy stored could be utilised day and night to charge the electric vehicle or contribute to the heat pumps electrical demand.
