Air Source Heat Pump, Solar PV and Battery Storage Installation

Background

Mrs Thompson contacted us as she required a replacement heating system and was looking for an energy efficient alternative. The property is detached, in a suburban location and unoccupied most days as the clients work and children go to school.

Requirement

An efficient heating system to replace the existing old gas boiler which needed to heat radiators throughout the property. Power generation was required to support a future electric vehicle and also helping to reduce electric bills and improve the client’s environmental impact.

Solution

An Air Source Heat Pump was proposed as the property was well insulated and this would provide space heating through a new radiator central heating system and hot water through a pressurised heat pump tank. Solar PV will generate electricity to power the heat pump and a battery storage system was installed to store surplus energy generated through the day so this can be used when required on an evening.

The customer also was advised to switch to the Octopus agile energy tariff as the battery could then be charged from the grid during hours of cheap energy rates and discharged back into the property when rates are higher to further save money on fuel bills.
