Background

Dr Sawyer has a passion for Green Energy and reducing his environmental impact. He heads a sustainable committee for the NHS and was looking for ways to lower his personal CO2 production along with piloting renewable technologies at his own home so he could monitor the effect and report back on the benefits sought.

Requirement

A solution was required to generate as much power as possible to supply a new electric vehicle. Consumption was also high on an evening when sunlight was not available, so this needed to be a consideration. The existing system was not efficiently heating the house or meeting hot water requirements, so this needed to be improved.

Solution

Approval was granted from Norther Power Grid to install a large Solar PV system to the south facing roof, maximising the electricity production potential. A SolarEdge EV charging inverter diverted any surplus energy into the client’s electric vehicle along with a 10KW LG Chem battery storage system. This assisted with the electrical consumption during the evening that the newly installed Mitsubishi Ecodan air source heat pump would require to heat the room emitters
