Mrs Buckley, Biomass Boiler & Solar Panels
The solar thermal panels provide Mrs Buckley with hot water and the biomass boiler is a primary heat source.
Biomass Boiler & Solar Thermal Panels Installation for Mrs Buckley
Mrs Buckley first contacted us to look for a replacement for her old inefficient oil boiler. The property is in a rural location and is of solid brick construction. She has a large hot water demand that the existing hot water cylinder was not able to cope with. Marshall & McCourt were selected for this project as we successfully came up with a design that suited the customers’ requirements and had MCS certification for both the solar thermal and biomass aspects of this project.
The most challenging aspect of this project was the fact the customer required her existing Rayburn stove to stay in place providing heat to the hot water tank as a back-up. With there were often power cuts in the village, this was essential to remain so hot water was still available. Solar thermal was required to provide free hot water and a biomass boiler located in the basement as the primary heat source fed by pellet from a specially designed fuel storage system at the top of the garden.
After a long consultation and much needed consideration, we managed to squeeze a Froloing P1 biomass boiler into the client’s basement to meet their requirement. A buffer tank was installed in the old oil boiler room with a new hot water tank connected to a solar thermal system on the first floor landing. A specialist pump manifold was fitted to provide weather compensated heating to increase the fuel savings that could be generated. With Froling being a market leading Austrian brand, the boiler had the capability to control the heating, hot water and solar thermal systems so everything could be controlled through the same controller and work harmoniously together. A bespoke fuel storage system was then made in a shed at the end of the garden and vacuum fed to the boiler in the basement.
“Marshall and McCourt provided great advice and completed the work with minimal fuss and upheaval. I would certainly recommend their services.”
