Apply For The Renewable Heat Incentive
The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a government financial incentive that aims to encourage the use of renewable heat. By switching to heating systems that use renewable energy, you can not only help the UK reduce its carbon emissions but also get money towards your renewable heating cost.
There are four types of renewable technologies that you can install in order to qualify for RHI Funding – biomass boilers, ground source heat pumps, air source heat pumps or solar thermal panels. Here, at Marshall & McCourt, we can take care of the whole installation process for any of these four renewable solutions.
To apply for the incentive, you must have a Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) Certificate for your installation and a domestic Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) if a domestic property. Upon successful application, you will then receive quarterly payments (every three months) for the amount of clean, green renewable heat your system produces for a period of seven years for domestic applications and twenty years for non-domestic applications.
Two RHI Schemes To Benefit From
There are two Renewable Heat Incentive schemes – Domestic and Non-domestic.
If the renewable heating system only heats a single home for which you have a domestic EPC, then you can apply to the Domestic RHI scheme. This scheme is for people that own the homes they live in, social and private landlords for properties where one heating system only serves a single household, tenants, and people that build their own homes (self-builders), or have them built for them and meet certain other requirements.
The Non-Domestic RHI scheme covers renewable heating systems in commercial, public or industrial premises. Those eligible to apply for funding include small and large businesses, hospitals, schools and organisations with district heating schemes where one heating system serves multiple homes.
