The Home Upgrade Grant (HUG)

Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA), in partnership with Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough, Darlington and Redcar and Cleveland Borough Councils, has secured more than £2million of funding to upgrade the energy efficiency of homes across our local community – could YOU benefit?

Through vital home improvements, households can not only enjoy a warmer home but will be able to relax – safe in the knowledge that their property is doing all the hard work, while their energy bills get a bit of a break.

The funding is designed to make it easier for you to benefit from energy efficient upgrades, empowering our local community to do what we can for ourselves, our neighbours, and our planet.

What home energy improvements can be funded?

There is an energy saving investment for every property and home – from modern spaces to period properties full of character.
As the exclusive contractor, Marshall & McCourt will deliver energy improvement upgrades to over 250 homes across Tees Valley – free of charge. including:

• Replacement cavity wall insulation
• External wall insulation
• High retention storage heaters
• Solar PV
• Solar thermal
• Loft insulation
• Double glazing
• Draft proofing
• Air source heat pump

Eligibility Criteria for the Home Upgrade Grant (HUG)

Through Home Upgrade Grants, we hope to support families and low-income households with making the kind of changes and improvements that could transform their situation.

To be eligible for funding, you must meet each of the following criteria:

● Your home must be “off gas” – that is you must use oil, solid fuel, LPG or electricity to heat your home
● Your total annual household income must be LESS THAN £30,000
● Your property must have an EPC rating between D and G
● You must live in one of the following areas – Stockton-on-Tees, Darlington, Middlesbrough, and Redcar & Cleveland.

All of these requirements will be checked as part of the application process by the Home Upgrade Grant team.
