Mrs Aynsley, Renewable Energy System

A renovation project to upgrade this traditional property by integrating solar and heat pump technologies.

Air Source Heat Pump, Solar PV and Solar Thermal Installation for Mrs Aynsley

Background

Mrs Aynsley was looking to improve the efficiency of her property by utilising the governments green homes grant scheme. This property is detached and situated in a village location. The majority of the heating and hot water demands were during daylight hours due to the homeowners being retired.

Requirement

A green energy solution was needed to first of all reduce the properties heating demand whilst also providing lower ongoing running costs. It was important to take advantage of government incentives whilst available to help reduce the initial capital outlay that was associated with the recommended improvements.

Solution

A fabric first approach was taken, therefore we arranged for cavity wall insulation to be installed as this would reduce the properties energy demand. This was also a prerequisite to enable funding for the proposed Air Source Heat Pump which would provide all of the heating and hot water requirements through a pressurised hot water tank and replacement radiators.

A Solar PV and Thermal system would further assist with the electrical consumption of the heat pump and provide additional benefits by making the property almost carbon neutral. These complimentary packages of products not only help to reduce carbon emissions but future proof the property and also add value.
