Air Source Heat Pump & Underfloor Heating Installation for Mrs Davison

Background

This building is a 1950s bungalow that has been newly purchased by the client. It has undergone a full renovation as well as a new extension to the front and rear. The existing walls have been cavity filled, windows replaced and the loft insulation has been brought up to current standards. The original heating system was a gravity fed gas boiler that supplied a vented hot water cylinder and radiators.

Requirement

This customer initially contacted us to enquire about the possibility of installing a ground source heat pump. After a site visit and further discussions, it was agreed that an air source heat pump would be the most cost effective option to meet the properties heat demand.

Solution

We designed a system that could provide a constant low flow temperature to achieve the maximum star rating but still adequately heat the property in peak demands. This would also mean that the heat pump would achieve high COPs and the customer would receive the maximum RHI payments available. The existing system was a gravity fed gas boiler that supplied a vented hot water cylinder and radiators. This was fully removed and the gas meter discarded. The new heat pump was floor mounted to the rear of the property which supplies the new pressurised underfloor heating and unvented hot water cylinder providing all space heating and hot water requirements.
