This traditional property had recently been purchased by the customer and was in an aged condition with an old inefficient oil boiler supplying rusty radiators. As the full property required refurbishing, there was no restriction on the type and location of the heating system. Mr Leonard chose Marshall & McCourt for this project as we could provide a full house solution with the design, supply and installation of his bathroom products along with the underfloor heating and biomass installation.
As this property was off the gas grid, the client required a way to heat his property and provide him with a large volume of pressurised hot water but that was cheaper to run than his old oil boiler. Underfloor heating was also essential to provide an even heat throughout the property without requiring the need for unsightly radiators located on the wall space. It was requested that the temperature in all rooms could be adjusted independently.
With this in mind we decided to install a market leading Froling biomass pellet boiler which would still prove a high temperate heat but would create large fuel savings compared to oil and attract the governments RHI incentive payment which is to be paid direct into the clients bank account for seven years. The underfloor heating solution was slightly more difficult as all the floors were solid, with this in mind we opted to go for a low profile system and concrete screed which would meet the properties heat demand and only increase the floor height by 20mm.
